Ciarán Taylor

Ciarán Taylor is artistic director of Carpet Theatre. He studied directing at the University of Kent at Canterbury, and devising and movement theatre at Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Paris.

He has written/devised and directed twenty site-specific, promenade, and theatre-based shows for Carpet Theatre and others, touring in Ireland, Wales, Czech Republic, Romania, and Bulgaria. He has been Theatre Artist in Residence at Mermaid Theatre (Bray), and Leitrim Artist in Schools. 

Stór  his bilingual play for children, was commissioned by Dublin City Council Children’s Art in Libraries in 2016. Ciarán recently created a streamed performanceTheatre Online Presents Online Theatre supported by Arts Council Covid-19 Response Award (2020).  

Ciarán has also acted in leading roles at the Abbey Theatre (A Cry from Heaven-2005), on national tours, and on TG4 and RTÉ TV.  He is director of collaborative arts project Sightless Cinema (2014-2022) which presents radio drama devised with blind people in cinemas.
